RESIDENT CHOREOGRAPHERS
THREE-YEAR artistic CO-PRODUCTION program in support of Italian choreography
Hangartfest directs its energies and resources towards a priority line of action tending towards a strategic goal which becomes the cultural and identity code of the event. This action develops from three years to three years and consists in offering stability to an Italian choreographer, that means the possibility of co-producing new works to be presented at the Festival. This action is a clear and declared sign in support of Italian contemporary dance.
The support action takes the form of providing economic resources, the hospitality of the company in residence in the days before its debut, and the premiere of the show. The action includes a second night show.
The presentation of new works at the Festival for three consecutive years also allows spectators to closely follow and monitor the creative path of the guest choreographer. An integral part of the support action is in fact the establishment of the observation (and monitoring) group called Occhi da Marziani , made up of passionate spectators, strictly not from the sector, who for the entire duration of the three-year project participate, with their alien gaze, to the artist's creative path. The group, coordinated by the collaborators of the Festival, has been curated by the dance critic Silvia Poletti during the 2018-2020 period, and now by Maria Paola Zedda.
2018-2020 PROGRAM
For the three-year period 2018-2020, the resident choreographer was MARTA BEVILACQUA (co-director of the Arearea Company). The shows co-produced by Hangartfest were: Concetti Sfumati ai Bordi, premiered on Sept. 7, 2018; Il Rovescio, premiered on Oct. 4, 2019; and Homing, premiered on Oct. 2, 2020.

The results of the co-production period 2018-2020 are collected and published in the book The Choreographic Novel (Ephemeria 2022) with photos and writings by Marta Bevilacqua, Antonio Cioffi and Silvia Poletti.
