Sahar Damoni è nata e cresciuta in un pezzo di terra controverso e vive in una realtà molto complicata. Come artista femminile palestinese, ha non poche barriere da infrangere, ma l'aspetto politico della sua identità aggiunge ulteriori frustrazioni. In DO NOT TITLE ME, esprime, osserva e vaga attraverso la sua frustrazione. Tenta di catturare la realtà e il futuro del suo corpo palestinese individuale fisicamente, mentalmente e socialmente. “Accetta la posizione in cui ti trovi, non forzarla, non spingerla. Il tuo corpo alla fine si lascerà andare, sii paziente con te stesso, concentrati semplicemente sul respiro. Non preoccuparti di come appari. Concentrati su come ti senti”.
Sahar Damoni è una ballerina, coreografa e insegnante di danza palestinese. Il suo lavoro si occupa delle sfide che affronta come donna nella società palestinese. Ha studiato danza al Kibbutz College of Education, Technology and Arts e ha ballato con la Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. I suoi lavori sono stati presentati in sedi come International Exposure, Curtain Up, Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival, Echo Echo Festival Northern Ireland, Movement Research presso la Judson Church di New York, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival negli Stati Uniti e il Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival negli Stati Uniti e l'International Solo Dance di Stoccarda, Festival del Teatro. Sahar è stata invitata a partecipare a Un/Controlled Gestures, un seminario sulla danza e la politica del corpo, organizzato dal Goethe Institute, in Marocco. Sahar è stata recentemente presentata in formati digitali come SATURDAY MORNING LIVE SML: Zooma – Dead End di La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club New York e Festival de Danza Contemporánea, Città del Messico. Il suo assolo DO NOT TITLE ME è stato presentato all'Intimadance Festival.
Sahar Damoni was born and raised in a controversial piece of land and lives in a severely complicated reality. As a female Palestinian artist, she has more than enough barriers to break yet the political aspect of her identity adds more frustrations. In DO NOT TITLE ME, she expresses, observes, and wanders through her frustration. She attempts to capture the reality and the future of her individual Palestinian body physically, mentally, and socially. “Accept the position you are in, do not force it, do not push it. Your body will let go eventually, Just be patient with yourself, simply focus on the breathing. Do not worry about what you look like. Focus on how you feel”
Sahar Damoni is a Palestinian dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. Her body of work deals with the challenges she faces as a woman in Palestinian society. She studied dance at the Kibbutzim College of Education, Technology and Arts and danced with the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. Her pieces have been presented at venues including Suzanne Dellal Centre's International Exposure, Curtain Up, Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival, Echo Echo Festival Northern Ireland, Movement Research at the Judson Church New York, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in the US and the Stuttgart International Solo Dance Theater Festival. Sahar was invited to participate in Un/Controlled Gestures, a seminar on dance and body politic, organized by the Goethe Institute, Morocco. Sahar has recently been featured in digital formats such as SATURDAY MORNING LIVE SML: Zooma – Dead End by La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club New York, and Festival de Danza Contemporánea, Mexico City. Her solo DO NOT TITLE ME was presented in the Intimadance Festival.
