The eighteenth edition of Hangartfest was presented this morning in the Sala Rossa of the Palazzo del Comune of Pesaro, an event supported by the MiC Ministry of Culture, the Marche Region and the Municipality of Pesaro, which avails itself of the collaboration of ISIA Urbino (for the Interfaccia Digitale Award), of AMAT, Indipendance, Sistema Museo - Musei Civici and which, for the first time, is realized with the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pesaro.
This 2021 edition is entirely dedicated to the Italian contemporary scene, as regards live performances, without however renouncing a large presence of foreign artists, but in video. To justify the choice of the Festival was none other than the international situation still uncertain in terms of pandemia.
Therefore, 2021 is still a year of transition, marked by prudence. But the numbers will not be missing at the festival: 60 days of programming, 32 events in total, with 20 live shows (including reruns) and 12 evenings of video screenings, 5 premieres (the others are regional premieres), 1 co-production and 2 audience awareness programs.
Of the 12 evenings of screenings (the VIDEO BOX section), five are dedicated to Israel, with the best productions made in that country in the last two years, the undisputed international point of reference for contemporary dance. Among these, the Italian debut of YAG_the movie stands out, a film by Ohad Naharin with the dancers of the Batsheva Dance Company. A masterpiece on the choreographic level, but also on the cinematographic one. Also noteworthy is the presence of Sahar Damoni, a Palestinian artist who lives and works in Israel and who, not without difficulty, fights to affirm her identity as a woman and as a choreographer. Other videos scheduled, all Italian premieres, are the works by Michael Getman, Liat Dror, Tamar Borer & Tom Klein, Adi Boutrous, Avi Kaiser & Sergio Antonino. All screenings made possible thanks to the support of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Israel in Rome.
On the Italian side, the works by Luca Silvestrini, Davide Calvaresi, Michela Paoloni, Ariella Vidach, Anna Albertarelli and Roberto Ruager, Collettivo CIW and Marco Becherini will be screened. Without forgetting the new work by Rossana Abritta, created thanks to the winning of the last edition of the Interfaccia Digitale Award and the film by Andrea Baldassarri, which for the occasion will also become a live performance.
As for live performances, the inauguration of the festival on September 1st is entrusted to a group of enterprising and explosive young Milanese artists, gathered under the name of Cantiere Idina Who, coming from Paolo Grassi and the Brera Academy. Following, works by Sara Campinoti and Daniele Del Bandecca, Marta Bevilacqua (at the Civic Museums), Mario Coccetti, Luca Campanella and Roberto Lori, Luciano Padovani, Sara Paternesi and Liber Dorizzi, Laura Colomban, Matthias Kass and Clément Bugnon (for the Italian group Equilibrio Dinamico).
